History

Humble beginnings in Småland

It all started with highly dedicated people in the Swedish city of Växjö in the mid-1990s. Since then, it has developed at an explosive pace. Today, Euro Accident employs over 300 people at five locations in Sweden. We have also established a local branch in Denmark as our first step for a Nordic expansion.

Euro Accident was founded in Växjö, Sweden, in 1996 by Tommy Nilsson. From the very start, the company focused on insurance policies in the field of SLE: Sports, Leisure and Entertainment. In 1997, the company added group insurance schemes that went on to account for an ever-larger share of the business over the coming years.

Thomas Petersson stepped in as majority owner and CEO in 2003–2004. Growth picked up pace, and the company progressively launched rehabilitation insurance, private medical insurance and risk insurance policies for work pensions over the next few years.

In 2013, the American company National General Holdings Corporation became new owner of the company with a view to ensuring continued growth and development.

Following the acquisition of Ikano’s life insurance company and a portfolio transfer, Euro Accident Livförsäkring AB became the insurance provider for our insurance policies on October 1st, 2018.

New owner in 2019

In December 2019, an ownership group from the Swedish investment company Impilo AB acquired Euro Accident. In Impilo, Euro Accident has an active owner with a clear focus on the Nordic region – an owner that can contribute to continued growth in Sweden and the Nordic region through the application of new perspectives, new knowledge and clout.

Impilo also shares the same strong conviction of being able to help improve the world by creating conditions for people to live long, healthy and sustainable lives.
