Practical information when an injury cccurs

Exemption certificate, declaration of possibility, declaration of duration – what, how and why?

If the employee is so ill, and thus unable to attend a sick call or talk to you over the phone, you as a manager can ask for a certificate of exemption.

The exemption certificate corresponds to what was previously called a medical certificate.

As an employer, you have the right to request the exemption certificate already from the first day of illness.

In the exemption certificate, the employee's own doctor declares that the employee is ill.

The employer pays for the exemption certificate.

As an employer, you can also ask the employee to declare on good faith that she is ill.

Declaration of duration

As an employer, you can ask for a so-called declaration of duration, which assumes that the sick leave lasts more than 14 days. The employee receives a declaration of duration from his own doctor, who assesses when the employee is likely to be healthy again.

As an employer, you must pay the cost of the declaration of duration.

Option statement

When an employee is ill for a long period of time, you as an employer can ask for a statement of possibility,

The purpose of the opportunity statement is to uncover what the employee can do despite his illness, and the purpose of the opportunity statement is thus to contribute to the employee being retained in work. There are three parties to fill in the declaration, namely the employer, the sickperson and the doctor.
